Terminal blocks are accessory products used to achieve electrical connections, and are classified as connectors in industry. With the increasing level of industrial automation and the stricter and more precise requirements for industrial control, the demand for wiring terminals is gradually increasing. The rapid development of the electronics industry has led to an increasing range and variety of wiring terminals. Terminal blocks can be divided into UK terminal blocks, European terminal block series, plug-in terminal block series, transformer terminal block, building wiring terminal block, fence terminal block series, spring terminal block series, track terminal block series, through wall terminal block series, etc
The plastic insulation material and conductive components of the wiring terminal are directly related to the quality of the terminal, and they respectively determine the insulation and conductivity performance of the terminal. Any failure of a wiring terminal will lead to the failure of the entire system engineering. There is no need to say much about this, there are many warning cases. As a precision operated accessory product, the quality of motion control wiring terminals is always of concern to customers, and effective inspection and prevention have become a topic of concern.
What are the common faults of wiring terminals
1. Poor insulation issues
The function of an insulator is to maintain the correct position arrangement of the contact parts and to insulate them from each other, as well as from the shell. Due to the presence of metal residues on the surface or inside of insulators, surface dust, solder contamination, moisture, organic material precipitates, and harmful gas adsorption films merging with surface water films to form ionic conductive channels, moisture absorption, mold growth, insulation material aging, and other reasons, insulation defects such as short circuits, leakage, breakdown, and low insulation resistance can all be caused.
2. Poor contact issues
The metal conductor inside the terminal block is the core component of the terminal, which transmits voltage, current, or signals from external wires or cables to the corresponding contacts of the corresponding connectors. Therefore, the contact parts must have excellent structure, stable and reliable contact retention force, and good conductivity. Due to the unreasonable design of the contact structure, incorrect material selection, unstable mold, oversized machining, rough surface, unreasonable surface treatment processes such as heat treatment and electroplating, improper assembly, harsh storage and use environment, and improper operation, all of these can cause poor contact at the contact and mating parts of the contact.
3. Problems with poor fixation
Insulators not only serve as insulation, but also provide precise alignment and protection for protruding contacts. They also have the function of installation positioning and locking fixation on the equipment. Poor fixation may affect contact reliability and cause instantaneous power outage, while severe cases may result in product disassembly. Disassembly refers to the abnormal separation between plugs and sockets, as well as between pins and sockets, caused by unreliable structure due to material, design, process, and other reasons when the wiring terminals are in the plug-in state, which will result in serious consequences such as interruption of control system power transmission and signal control. Due to unreliable design, incorrect material selection, improper molding process selection, poor quality of heat treatment, molds, assembly, fusion welding, and inadequate assembly, all of these can cause poor fixation.
Summary:
Terminal blocks, as a commonly used component in electrical connections, play a very important role. Choosing and using wiring terminals correctly can not only ensure the safe operation of the circuit, but also improve operational efficiency and maintenance convenience.
